Panhandle Horizon #10
Yellow light kissing the ridgetops at close of day - the
ultimate of a whisper of sun - another ‘wow’ factor in my
volunteer work in Idaho’s Panhandle National Forest -
USFS.
Catalog 16010 (8” x 20”)
Panhandle Horizon # 6
Blues have always been one of my favorite palette colors. In
this evening portrayal of a dying sunset, the onset of the daily
evening chill and the cool down winds of night bathe this scene
of my memory sensations.
Catalog 16009 (8” x 20”)
Panhandle Horizon # 5
Bare ridges, clouds scuplted by the wind, fog settling into
the valleys, a lone tree, a setting sun - what an end to my
imaginary journey to another volunteer workday in Idaho’s
Panhandle National Forest - USFS.
Catalog 16008
Panhandle Horizon # 12 ‘Firestorm’
Infinite ridge lines resembling a dark fog in the valleys. The
color shifts in the sky take me to a time where fires raged in
the Teton Wilderness and seemed to set the sky on fire.
Northern Panhandle Forest of Idaho - USFS.
Catalog 16019
Panhandle Horizon # 23
Candied ridge lines resembling streaks of frosting over the
valleys. The shifts of color layer over the ridges like rainbow
flavors at dusk. Northern Panhandle Forest of Idaho - USNFS.
Catalog 16052
Panhandle Horizon # 9
A malestorm of color flashes in the setting moments of light in
Idaho's Panhandle National Forest during one of my volunteer
service trips there -- a stunning electrical display.
Catalog 16014
Panhandle Horizon # 22
From the mountain ridges of northern Idaho, the sunset flare of
a rising sun is spectacular in the summer. Inspired by a service
trip to Bonners Ferry ID where I worked for Panhandle National
Forest.
Catalog 16025
Panhandle Horizon # 4
Like colored paper strips layered on top of each other, the
multiple ridges in the Purcell Mountains of Idaho portray a
bounty of hues and stratas found nowhere else. Idaho’s
Panhandle National Forest - USFS.
Catalog 16045
Panhandle Horizon # 7
One of the most intense perspectives I ever
witnessed - the scarlet sun bathed ridges of the
Cabinet Mountains after a storm with the distant
sky still pregnant with the threat of another rain.
Idaho’s Panhandle National Forest - USFS.
Catalog 16012
Panhandle Horizon #13 ‘Pend Oreille Sunrise’
Not on one of my summer service trips, but on a ski excursion
to Sandpoint ID - 20 miles south of my summer service trips
near Bonners Ferry. Schweitzer Ski Area - the setting for
glorious sky effects in a morning of skiing.
Catalog 16024
Panhandle Horizon #6 (triptych)
On Mt. Fisher in the Cabinet Mountains of the Idaho
Panhandle, I recall the settling cold as the sun dipped
behind the horizon as I viewed the Koutenay
landscape.
Catalog 16023 (20” x 60”)
Panhandle Horizon #12 (triptych)

Infinite ridge lines resembling a dark fog in the
valleys. The color shifts in the sky take me to a

Panhandle National Forest - USFS.
Catalog 16046 (12” x 36”)
Panhandle Horizon #16
How unreal is a setting moon over the ghostly lighted ridges
on a chilling summer night in July where the mountain
temperatures in northern Idaho fall precipitously into blues.
Idaho Panhandle National Forest - USFS.
Catalog 16030 (20” x 30”)
Panhandle Horizon #18
Oh… the stars, the stars. On a cold sharp summer night,
the sky is riddled with holes of crisp star light and
everything takes on the chilly hue of blue. Idaho
Panhandle National Forest - USFS.
Catalog 16042 (8” x 20”)
Panhandle Horizon #19
Like a cracked window pane, the northern lights dance
in a phrenatic stampede of chaos on a frigid summer
night when I volunteered my back to maintain trails in
the Idaho Panhandle National Forest - USFS.
